Wash Basin Cleaning Robot
Maintaining cleanliness in human environments is essential, but tasks like cleaning wash basins can be repetitive and time-consuming. This project aims to develop a robotic system that automates the wash basin cleaning process. The robot will be designed to detect dirt and stains, navigate the basin area, and perform thorough cleaning using brushes or spray mechanisms. It reduces human effort, ensures consistent hygiene, and can be deployed in homes, public restrooms, or commercial spaces.
Project Objective:
The goal of the project is to design a robot that can be kept on top of wash basin, and develop a mechanism that can clean the washbasin. A robot should not be heavy so that a person can carry the robot and place it on a wash basin.
Components:
- Base stand
- Actuators
- Motor Drivers
- Microcontrollers
- Main Computer
- Camera
- Battery
- Cleaning Mechanism
- Water pumps
- Storage Tank
The base stand serves as the structural support for the robot and should be sized according to the dimensions of the sink. A camera is used to scan and map the sink area. The main computer (such as a Raspberry Pi or Jetson Nano) processes the visual data from the camera and sends appropriate commands to the microcontroller (Arduino or ESP). The microcontroller then controls the actuators by sending torque commands through the motor drivers. Water pumps draw water or soap solution from the storage tank as part of the cleaning mechanism. The entire system is powered by a battery, allowing for cordless and efficient operation.
Note:
Team Structure:
This is a collaborative project involving both M.Tech and B.Tech students. The M.Tech students will take a lead role in guiding and mentoring the B.Tech students throughout the development process, particularly during the design and manufacturing stages.
Key Tasks: One of the central tasks in this project is the design and development of the cleaning mechanism, which includes selecting appropriate tools (such as brushes, sprayers, or scrubbers), integrating them with actuators, and ensuring effective dirt removal. Other important tasks include mechanical design, electronics integration, control system implementation, and overall system testing
Cleaning robot industry is highly valued marketspace. Although there are not many robots designed specifically to clean wash basin, but many cleaning robots are equipped with robotic arms on a wheeled robot designed to clean washrooms. Some such robots are listed below just for market survey.
